Need Some Inspiration?

Wow!

My New Claim to Fame

I just found out that the Wham-o company first marketed their legendary hoops in 1958. "Wham-O has become the most successful manufacturer of hula hoops in modern times. They trademarked the name Hula Hoop ® and start manufacturing the toy out of the new plastic Marlex in 1958".

Guess what else happened in 1958? I was born. Wow, that's a weird bit of synchronicity isn't it?

Making Time For Hooping

Ever try to squeeze in some hooping and there just aren't enough hours in the day? Well, I have one of those clothes dryers that never quite gets everything dry. So then I have to put the timer back on for 15 or 20 minutes and wait out in the garage. But today I grabbed my hoop hanging nearby and got a good solid 20 minutes of hooping in. I felt better the rest of the day for having done it.

And there is always this big black woman that drives by and scowls at us. But when she saw me hooping today she actually smiled.  A great big Cheshire cat ear to ear smile. Rock on.

Hoopers in SLO

I was visiting Mitchel Park in San Luis Obispo CA when 2 hoopers showed up. I grabbed a few photos. I was depressed that I didn't have my hoop with me. I came by train and had to limit what I brought to what I could carry by myself. If only I had a collapsible hoop. I asked the hoopers if they had regular meetings or if I could come back the next day with a hoop and she said they more or less just show up on a whim. Oh well. It was kind of demoralizing when I walked up to say hello and a little girl there said, "Are you their mother."

Also, I was by the Monday club and saw a woman carrying about 20 hoops into the building. Hers was the only car in the parking lot so maybe she was having a rehearsal or preparing for a class later that night.

The last time I was at a Monday club event was for a belly dancing workshop about 25 years ago. Time flies.
