Hoopers in SLO

I was visiting Mitchel Park in San Luis Obispo CA when 2 hoopers showed up. I grabbed a few photos. I was depressed that I didn't have my hoop with me. I came by train and had to limit what I brought to what I could carry by myself. If only I had a collapsible hoop. I asked the hoopers if they had regular meetings or if I could come back the next day with a hoop and she said they more or less just show up on a whim. Oh well. It was kind of demoralizing when I walked up to say hello and a little girl there said, "Are you their mother."

Also, I was by the Monday club and saw a woman carrying about 20 hoops into the building. Hers was the only car in the parking lot so maybe she was having a rehearsal or preparing for a class later that night.

The last time I was at a Monday club event was for a belly dancing workshop about 25 years ago. Time flies.

Get your hoop on

Another super dooper hooper.

Silly hooping song

This video NEEDS good hoopers. But it is a crack-up full of colorful offbeat outfits. I might just have to buy this song to hoop too though.

hooping in SLO

I used to juggle in Mitchell Park in San Luis Obispo all the time before I moved to Orange County, CA. Now I find out that there is a whole new group of people that meet there to juggle, hoop and spin fire. I found this video about them.

I made a new hula hoop yesterday and wrapped it with red, yellow, blue, and green tape.

Jerry Springer Hooper

I turned on the TV and Jerry Springer was on. I was about to change the channel. Then behind the snowball fighting lesbians, I spotted a hooper. Cute little thing wearing those crazy bell bottom thigh-highs with garters. She looked like Shirley Feeny from Laverne and Shirley. Pretty sure it was a wig though. As far as I could tell, she was the show's eye candy. But I bet she gets a ton of publicity from that.

More hooping today.

For arms I find the smaller hoops much more practical.
I'm still not good enough to hoop for 30 minutes non-stop. I have to work on transitions from waist to over the head and so forth. And I need to get to the point where I can do it around my waist indefinitely. So much to do but beautiful weather to do it in.

My first hoop is red and black.

Hooping for Fitness

I just made my first hoop out of irrigation tubing and tape and I'm having a whole lot of fun learning to do it all over again since I haven't done it since childhood.
