Warm Enough To Hoop Outside

Hooping makes me happy, and perhaps if I did it more, it would make me fit. But mostly it brings me joy.

Having Fun With Hoops

I know I haven't posted in awhile. About a year ago, we moved to Lucerne Valley, CA, which is in the Mojave Desert. So I'm still dealing with culture shock, having dirt for a yard, and having a real winter and frying hot summer. So as you might imagine I haven't done much hooping. But I'm determined to make the most of the pleasant autumn weather and hoop as much as I can.

You can laugh if you want to, but at least I'm not sitting on the couch. Now that it's not 105 degrees out and I figured out there is room to hoop on the porch and not in the dirt and gravel, I'll be able to practice a lot more.

I Made a New Hoop

On the 4th of July I really wanted to take the two hoops I'd made to the potluck so everyone could enjoy them. I kept asking my boyfriend to put them in the truck as we were preparing but as fate would have it, it was only at the last minute that we went out to the garage to get them. I could see them, I could touch them.  But there was no way they were coming out of the garage.

About six months ago our hot water heater flooded the garage. Everything had to be dragged out into the alley while a worker installed a new one.  Then it started to pour. So everything got thrown back in all helter skelter.   So the the hoops went in behind the industrial sewing machine and the work bench.  Somewhere down on the floor something is sitting through the hoops.  I was bummed. It was looking like not only was I not going to get to hoop on the 4th of July, but it was beginning to look like I'd miss the whole summer.

During the flood, the leftover tubing ended up on the patio.  Either yesterday or at some point, I realized I could make a new hoop without too much hassle.  I still had 2 connectors. I still had tape.  So today I made one after watching a video by hooper Safire. Of course now it's too humid out and I'm too tired to use it but at least it's ready to use. And I love the metallic sheen of the red strapping tape.

Mya Hoop Dancer

There are some unique moves in here that I've never seen before. I first saw this on the M.E.C.D.A. stream on Facebook.

Serious Juggling

Yesterday I noticed that Serious Juggling also carries hoops in both adults and children's sizes as well as a heavier hoop for exercising. I've bought juggling equipment from them at conventions, and I've loved everything I've gotten from them.

What the Camera Sees

Hooping video. This is a trippy hooping video my boyfriend shared with me. I haven't hooped for a while but with spring just around the corner I'm starting to get in the mood. Unfortunately when our hot water heater leaked, the garage got rearranged and I can't reach my hoops right now. I'll have to empty out some things to get to them, but it will be worth it right.

Hello Winter

Yesterday I got to do a little hooping for the winter solstice. It was sunny, even for being the shortest day of the year. I had to baby my sore arm, but I think it's good to work with my arm as much as I can.  I haven't hooped enough to lose weight, which is too bad. Maybe next year.
