The Hooping Family

My daughter and her hubby came down and we all passed around the hoop for some good fun and good laughs. Even though my daughter hasn't used a hoop in years, she picked it right up and she is very good at it. Then I showed her youtube videos showing what a great performance art it has become and she was blown away by it and very inspired. Even her hubby gave it a whirl, but he was trying to use brute strength. Still, he could do it for a bit. It's all about the rhythm, not the strength.

Chin balance

I'm getting a little better. I've got the neck hooping down. Now if only I could get the waist going for more than a few seconds. That's where I need the most work.

Jerry Springer Hooper

I turned on the TV and Jerry Springer was on. I was about to change the channel. Then behind the snowball fighting lesbians, I spotted a hooper. Cute little thing wearing those crazy bell bottom thigh-highs with garters. She looked like Shirley Feeny from Laverne and Shirley. Pretty sure it was a wig though. As far as I could tell, she was the show's eye candy. But I bet she gets a ton of publicity from that.

More hooping today.

For arms I find the smaller hoops much more practical.
I'm still not good enough to hoop for 30 minutes non-stop. I have to work on transitions from waist to over the head and so forth. And I need to get to the point where I can do it around my waist indefinitely. So much to do but beautiful weather to do it in.

Feb. is for hooping.

The nice weather finally lured me outdoors to work on my hooping for the first time since winter hit. The grass was still soggy though. It's amazingly hard to take a decent hooping self portrait. The timer would either go off after the hoop got away, while I was bending over, or while it was too bright or dark at that moment. So here's the only decent shot.

My first hoop is red and black.

Hooping for Fitness

I just made my first hoop out of irrigation tubing and tape and I'm having a whole lot of fun learning to do it all over again since I haven't done it since childhood.
